Nicholas is an immortal who has lived through centuries, surviving by skimming the dreams of humans. Reviewed in the United States on September 22, 2003 He almost waits too late, but a magical twist ofI do have to say that Nikolas is a very unique hero. I liked it a little bit better then the first in the series. I think it was because it was made clear he didn't do it out of lack of interest in the heroine or a desire for anyone else. After they have been married a short while, there's the incident that I mentioned in the spoiler above...This was an amazing story. I have always held the notion that two characters that have a prior history between them always make a better romance and this story too had a deeper impact on me upon re-reading the story with the knowledge of prior acquaintances between Emma and Nikolas in mind.I waited years to read "Prince of Dreams" and when I did, I barely last 30 minutes with it. Nicholas is a gorgeous hero, despite the ugly looking man on the cover. This is definitely one of Kleypas' more darker books, but it's worth the read. All brief affairs with married women. Sleepwalkers. I am not sure that I believed in his redemption and I know that being old school, the cheating was ok, but it really bugged me. And in one remarkable woman's tender touch, achingly familiar but gloriously new, he must seek the elusive promise of ecstasy . Diana stopped dreaming after her sister's death, but has remained firm in her resolution to find the man she believes was the cause of her sister's fatal unhappiness. He does everything he can to destroy her love for him. I know a book has my interest when I can't wait to find out what happens next. From 1494 to 1512 held an official post at Florence which included diplomatic missions to various European courts. I was filled with mixed feelings for this book. by Avon I found it easier to forgive, particularly since he sufficiently redeemed himself in my eyes in the end. Of course we all knew there were reasons for his behavior and we always find out what makes them tick.
However, in this instance, I wasn't as offended as I normally would be. True, he's been abused, had a horrible childhood, but c'mon!
